Top 25 selling cars of January 2026

January 2026 car sales witnessed few changes in top 25, Tata Nexon leads

January 2026 top 25 car sales list revealed, Tata Nexon tops the chart. There are 10 Maruti cars in this list, followed by 5 cars from Mahindra, 3 cars from Tata and Hyundai and 2 from Toyota and Kia each.

India’s passenger vehicle sales chart for January 2026 saw total dispatches of 23,365 units across its petrol, diesel and electric variants. The Tata Nexon registered a year-on-year growth of 52 percent, reflecting sustained demand in the sub-four metre SUV segment.

Industry observers note that recent revisions in the GST framework have influenced buyer preferences, particularly in favour of compact SUVs. As a result, sub-four metre models continue to account for a significant share of monthly sales volumes.

The Maruti Dzire secured the second spot in January, remaining popular among both private and fleet customers. Notably, it was the only sedan to feature within the top 10 best-selling vehicles for the month.

In third place, the Tata Punch recorded sales of 19,257 units. The compact SUV’s performance was supported by renewed interest following its recent update. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta ranked fourth with 17,921 units sold, maintaining steady demand in the mid-size SUV segment despite intensifying competition.

Among other notable performers, Maruti’s Victoris also featured within the top 10, posting dispatches of 15,240 units in January 2026.

Overall, the January sales data underlines the continued strength of SUVs in the Indian market, particularly in the compact and mid-size categories, while sedans remain comparatively limited in representation within the top ranks.

Out of 25 cars in the list, only five cars witnessed negative year-on-year growth. What are your thoughts on the top 25 selling cars of January 2026. Let us know in the comments section below.
