Mahindra Thar 1 Lakh Milestone

Mahindra plans Rs. 15,000 crore Nagpur plant, production from 2028

Mahindra has announced plans to invest Rs. 15,000 crores over the next ten years to establish what will become its largest integrated manufacturing facility in India. The new plant will be located near Nagpur in Maharashtra, with production operations expected to commence in 2028. The announcement was made on February 6, 2026, during the Advantage Vidarbha event, an initiative aimed at attracting investment and boosting industrial growth in the region.

The upcoming facility will span approximately 1500 acres in the Vidarbha region and is planned to have an annual production capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors. Once operational, it will represent Mahindra’s biggest manufacturing footprint in the country. The plant is intended to strengthen the company’s production capabilities amid growing demand across both automotive and farm equipment segments.

In addition to the main manufacturing hub, Mahindra will develop a 150-acre supplier park in Sambhajinagar. This ancillary cluster will not only support the Nagpur plant but also supply components to Mahindra’s existing facilities in Chakan and Nashik. The company has also outlined plans to acquire more than 2000 acres of land across three locations in Maharashtra, including the Igatpuri-Nashik belt, to expand engine production, product capacity and advanced technology operations.

Mahindra has confirmed that the Nagpur facility will manufacture vehicles across multiple powertrains, including internal combustion engines, electric vehicles and future-ready technologies. The plant will support next-generation vehicle platforms such as the NU_IQ architecture and will incorporate advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems. With a focus on both domestic and export markets, the project signals a significant scale-up in Mahindra’s long-term manufacturing and product strategy.
