Cashfree Payments launched what it called India’s first payments extension for AI applications, embedding checkout capabilities directly within conversational interfaces such as ChatGPT and Claude.

The product, branded “Cashfree Here,” was unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in collaboration with Mastercard and Swiggy. The Bengaluru-based company said the extension enables businesses to accept UPI and card payments inside chat interfaces, with passkey-based biometric authentication for card transactions.

The company said the extension acts as a native payments layer for AI applications built on OpenAI’s Apps SDK and Anthropic’s MCP framework. It allows users to complete transactions without being redirected to external pages. Card payments are secured using passkey-enabled biometric authentication supported by Mastercard, replacing traditional one-time password flows.

Cashfree said the extension addresses what it described as a gap in conversational commerce, where payment flows often sit outside chat interfaces, leading to user drop-offs and added integration complexity for developers. The company said transactions are completed through secure, user-driven flows with confirmations surfaced within the conversation.

Swiggy said it is integrating conversational AI across its offerings, including food delivery and quick commerce.

“Every major shift in commerce has been defined by a new interface, from physical stores to websites, from mobile apps to super apps. We are now entering the era of AI conversations, where users don’t browse, they ask,” Nitin Pulyani, Senior Vice President and Head of Product at Cashfree Payments, said in a statement. “Yet payments have remained stuck in older paradigms, forcing customers out of the conversation just when intent is highest. With Cashfree Here, and our collaboration with Mastercard and Swiggy, we are fundamentally changing that by making payments a native part of AI conversations.

“At Swiggy, convenience has always been at the heart of how we build,” said Madhusudhan Rao, Chief Technology Officer at Swiggy. “As we embed conversational AI across our offerings, we are reimagining how consumers discover, decide, and order across food delivery, quick commerce, and dining out, with payments to follow. As AI driven interfaces become more central to everyday commerce, it is essential that both ordering and payments remain intuitive and frictionless across these emerging touchpoints. Innovations like Cashfree Here strengthen this infrastructure, enabling more contextual, secure, and seamless commerce as the ecosystem evolves.”
